The mono or stereo optical sound signal is processed optimally by the SOLAR 4. The intelligent DNR* circuit - a high quality dynamic noise reduction - provides up to 24dB of noise attenuation without the undesirable artefacts (noise modulation, "pumping") known from other NR systems, because its design is based upon the principles of modern psychoacoustic science.

Not only Dolby* A and SR, but also traditional optical sound (16mm and 35mm) is processed with excellent results. The audio signal is cleaned very carefully. As well as noise the crackling of an old and dirty film is attenuated effectively without affecting the fidelity of the source material. The slit loss correction SLC compensates for high frequency loss and linearizes the frequency response.

The SOLAR 4 is compact, easy to install and to control. It provides a precisely processed signal to connect to a Dolby Surround* decoder or to a preamplifier or power amplifier with volume control. The SOLAR 4 is the optimal interface between film projector and HiFi/Surround system.
